Utah Membership

The net growth in Utah among members of the Church is growing steadily, approaching 1.8 million or 72 percent of the population according to end-of-year 2006 statistics.

That may come as a surprise to some who know that the percentage of Mormons in Utah overall is dropping because of the continued influx of non-Mormons moving into the state.

The state continues to be a draw for people because of its strong economy and quality of life. Just this week Forbes Magazine ranked Salt Lake City as the best city in the nation to find a job.

Provo is also a favorite, having appeared on lists such as Inc. Magazine’s “Hottest Midsize Cities” and Kiplinger’s “50 Smart Places to Live” in 2006.

Last year, Farmers Insurance Group of Companies named St. George in southern Utah as the most secure place to live in the United States.
