Kevin J Worthen was formally installed as the 13th president of Brigham Young University by President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and first vice chairman of the BYU Board of Trustees.

BYU is owned and operated by the Church and was established in 1875 in Provo, Utah. Two other universities and one college are owned and operated by the Church as well: BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho and LDS Business College.
Thomas S. Monson, president of the Church, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, attended the ceremony. Members of the BYU Board of Trustees, former presidents of the university and other Church leaders were also in attendance, as well as the school’s faculty and students.

President Eyring charged President Worthen “to go forward in leading the university to new heights of honor, achievement and recognition.” Once President Worthen was installed, President Eyring told him, “As you can see, we love, appreciate and support you.”
In later remarks, President Eyring said BYU is a vibrant community of learners. “Everyone is a student and everyone is a mentor.”
There is a sign on the edge of the Brigham Young University campus. It reads, “Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve.” “That is more than a slogan,” said President Eyring. “It is a main part of the founding vision.”
