Since 2016, #LightTheWorld has grown into a global initiative with millions of participants each Christmas. Throughout the holiday season, individuals are invited to perform acts of service to show love and kindness like Jesus did — one by one.

This year’s initiative focuses on sharing light. “By following Jesus, the true Light of the World, you can bring a little light to the lives of friends, family members, coworkers, and even strangers,” says LightTheWorld.org.

Below are seven videos that have been published as part of Light the World, beginning with the 2022 video “The World Needs Your Light.”

‘The World Needs Your Light’

“This Christmas, the world needs your light,” the narrator says. “Your family needs your light. The hungry, the lonely, close friends and complete strangers all need your light. Jesus taught His followers, ‘Ye are the light of the world.’ And it’s time to let your light shine.”

‘The Christ Child: A Nativity Story’

This 18-minute depiction of the Nativity story recounts in vivid detail the sacred events found in the Bible about Jesus’s birth.

‘The Christ Child: Behind the Scenes’

Go behind the scenes of “The Christ Child.” This 17-minute special explores the history, artistry and scriptural insights that went into producing the short film about the birth of Jesus Christ.

‘He Is the Gift’

“The first gift was not wrapped, had no bow, wasn’t purchased online or in a store,” says text that appears on screen. “The first gift of Christmas was a simple gift, a sacred gift. It wasn’t gold or frankincense. It was a gift of love, and life, and peace, and hope, given by a father to all His children.”

‘Why We Need a Savior’

“What if there were things we could never take back — words, decisions, mistakes?” the narrator says. “A world where every heartache lasted forever, where every wound never healed. No auto correct, no backspace, no delete. A world where man only drifts father and father away from happiness, from peace, from God. That’s what the world would be like without a Savior.”

‘#LightTheWorld: A Christmas Message’

“This Christmas, how will you ‘Light the World?’” the video asks. Scenes include people serving in a variety of ways, from shoveling a neighbor’s sidewalk to volunteering at a soup kitchen.
