Broadway Couple Joins Tabernacle Choir for 2025 Christmas Concerts

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square has announced that Tony Award-winning actress Stephanie J. Block and her husband, Broadway and television star Sebastian Arcelus, will be the featured guest artists for the 2025 Christmas concerts.

The duo will perform with the world-renowned choir and orchestra at Temple Square in a musical celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The concerts will be held December 11–13, 2025, in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

“Stephanie J. Block and Sebastian Arcelus are wonderful, gifted performers,” said choir director Mack Wilberg. “It will be a privilege to share the stage with such talented artists as together we celebrate the Savior’s birth during the Christmas season.”

Block recently appeared as Kate in “Kiss Me, Kate” at London’s Barbican Theatre and as the Baker’s Wife in the Broadway revival and national tour of “Into the Woods.” She received the 2019 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, along with Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, for her performance in “The Cher Show.”

Her distinguished career includes multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics nominations for roles in “Falsettos,” “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” “Anything Goes,” and “9 to 5: The Musical.”

In a joint interview with Arcelus, Block reflected on the invitation to perform with the choir.

“We are a prayerful family, so when Christ and family come together to meet the gifts we’ve been given, and the opportunity lends itself to share those gifts at Christmastime, we feel very, very lucky,” she said.

Arcelus added, “The opportunity to perform with both my wife and The Tabernacle Choir is an extraordinary surprise and a great honor.” Arcelus most recently portrayed the Baker opposite his wife in “Into the Woods.” He is best known to television audiences for his roles as Jay Whitman on CBS’s “Madam Secretary” and Lucas Goodwin on Netflix’s “House of Cards.” In addition to his work on Broadway and television, Arcelus has appeared in films and is a respected voice actor.

Michael O. Leavitt, president of The Tabernacle Choir, emphasized the sacred purpose behind the annual event.

“Every year, The Tabernacle Choir looks forward to sharing the message of the birth of our Savior and the joy of the Christmas season through music,” he said. “As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we look to Jesus Christ for peace and solace and hope that everyone will reach out and feel His love for them during this special time of the year.”
