In gratitude for the community’s continued support since last year’s attack on a chapel in Grand Blanc, Michigan, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent a second semitruck load of food to FISH, a local food bank, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The first delivery arrived last November.
Each delivery contained 40,000 pounds of food and household goods that will benefit the entire community.
“When I see [what the Church] brought, we are very, very blessed,” said FISH Director Barb Smith.

On Monday, September 28 — the one-year anniversary of the tragedy — the Church will break ground on a new chapel at the same location.
“We are very grateful for the kindness this community has shown and continues to show,” said Marcelino Sánchez, a local leader of the Church of Jesus Christ in Grand Blanc. “As we break ground, we do so with faith that through Christ we will continue to heal as we build again. We remember with love those lost and continue to pray for the many impacted. We thank those who served and lifted us, and we look forward to the future with faith in Christ.”
