The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is collaborating with five organizations to provide more than $4 million in relief in the Asian country of Myanmar following a strong earthquake in late March. The Church of Jesus Christ will work with CARE, International Medical Corps, Project HOPE, UNICEF and the World Food Programme to provide aid for those in need. The collective effort with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) will channel the Church's sacred funds to provide relief to approximately 500,000 victims.
The 7.7-magnitude quake struck the Sagaing region of Myanmar on Friday, March 28, 2025. More than 3,600 were killed in the natural disaster. An estimated 200,000 people have been displaced by the temblor, which was also felt in Thailand and China. Aftershocks continue in the region.
