From Singapore Newsroom
Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles began his first Apostolic ministry trip to Asia by reorganizing the Singapore Stake Presidency on Sunday, April 19, 2026, with recently called Area Seventy from India, Elder Peter Bushi. To those attending the stake conference, Elder Caussé promised that it would be a unique experience and testified of the guidance of the Spirit and the leadership of the Savior in the Church of Jesus Christ.
He met youth at a breakfast before the stake conference and invited them to prepare as early as possible to serve a mission. His presence gave Brielle Gutierrez, one of the youth, the conviction of his calling as an Apostle. She said she felt “he saw my desire to serve a mission” and “my potential to be a missionary.”

During the conference, Elder Caussé exhorted members to “work and prepare ourselves to meet the Savior, for at that time we will feel loved more than we have ever felt before,” emphasizing the indescribable love of God. This counsel helped Marlene Lau, a member of the stake, find direction for her next steps: to “focus on what is the most important” and “chuck aside” what does not help her prepare to meet God.
At missionary meetings in Indonesia and Vietnam, Elder Caussé expressed that he had always loved missionaries, but that feeling intensified after he was called as an Apostle and had to begin assigning them to their missions. He said he was moved to tears the first time he did so, as he pondered the life-changing impact of the decision led by the Spirit, and urged the missionaries to use the mission as an opportunity to transform their own lives. He also noted the trust and respect the Church enjoyed in both countries and the infinite potential for missionary work there.

And at a devotional in Jakarta, he emphasized the importance of bearing simple witness of the Savior by the Spirit and invited the members there to “pray every day for this temple to be built.” He witnessed to Latter-day Saints in Hanoi, Vietnam, about the God-given potential among them individually, collectively, and in the Church there, and invited them to recognize others’ potential and to invite them to “come and see” the Church and feel the Holy Spirit.
Manuel Meyer, patriarch of the Jakarta Indonesia Stake, who translated for Elder Caussé, recounted looking out beside him to the sea of “happy and blessed faces” and was moved to tears several times during Elder Caussé’s sermon as he shared personally and from the heart.

Elder Caussé’s call to “look at your potential and trust in your divine potential” was most memorable to Thị Ngọc Quỳnh Vũ, a young single adult from the Hanoi Vietnam District, and reminded her to see herself that way.
“God sees me as well,” she said. “He knows me by name.. He loves me so very much and He trusts me as well.”

Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Valérie, greet members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints working far from home at a branch in Hong Kong, China, on Sunday, April 26, 2026.2026 by Intellectual Reserve, Inc. All rights reserved.Elder Caussé finished his ministry in Hong Kong and spent his final Sunday among members working far from home. He shared their sacrament and found “we had a chance to teach one another” as he testified to them of receiving the vision of “your eternal identity, your divine nature and your divine potential” in the temple and how “no one of you is beyond the reach of the Lord's infinite blessings.”
“I would like to simply say that the message I have for this area, like for the whole world, is the message of the Apostle of the Lord — that I know that Jesus lives, that His Church has been restored upon the earth," said Elder Caussé at the conclusion of his ministry. “It can adapt to any culture, it can adapt to any climate, to any people, because it is destined to enable the exaltation of all the sons and daughters of a loving God.”
