May 2026 Friend to Friend Episode Teaches Children How Prophets ‘Point Us to Christ’

The 20-minute video features Elder and Sister Gong and the Primary General Presidency

The newest episode in the Friend to Friend series helps children of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints understand the role of prophets in inviting all to come unto Christ.

The broadcast “Prophets Guide Us to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ,” made available online and on YouTube on Sunday, May 24, 2026, features Elder Gerrit W. Gong, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, his wife, Susan, and the Primary General Presidency, who, along with the help of familiar characters like Louie the Toucan, guide children through activities and discussions.

“The Lord loves us. He wants us to know His truth and things that will make us happy. So He gives us living prophets,” said Elder Gong.

“Having prophets on the earth today is evidence of God's great love for all of His children,” added Sister Gong. “They teach us what the Savior would want us to do, and they point us to Jesus Christ.”

From folding paper boats and sharing the story of Noah, to learning about the life of current Church Prophet and President Dallin H. Oaks, the 20-minute video explores questions like “What are prophets?” and “How can I follow the Prophet?”

While gathered around a painting depicting the Prophet Joseph Smith, Elder Gong prompted the group of children to reflect on their understanding of the sacred calling.

“When you think of a prophet, what do you think of?” he asked.

“I think of leaders that help us because they want us to live with God and Jesus again,” said a young girl named Grace.

“What a wonderful answer. They help us to know what to do in our lives so we can be full of joy, and they bring God’s messages,” Elder Gong replied.

Elder Gong invited the children to “raise their hands” if they were grateful for prophets. He then added, “If you’re really grateful, would you raise both hands? If you’re really, really grateful, would you wave your hands?” to which the children responded with enthusiastic waving.

Sister Tracy Y. Browning, Second Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, shared her testimony that the Savior guides His Church in latter days.
