On Monday, August 24, 2026, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints welcomed more than 30 local and national media representatives to the newly completed Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. The event marked the start of the public open house, which will allow visitors to tour the temple’s interior before its dedication.
The public open house will be held from August 27 through September 12, 2026. Following the open house, the temple will be dedicated on October 11, 2026, by Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Participating in the press conference were Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, President of the Church’s Central America Area, and Elder Mark D. Eddy of the Seventy. Elder Ryan K. Olsen of the Central America Area Presidency was also in attendance.

During his remarks, Elder Giuffra emphasized the significance the new temple will have for thousands of families in Guatemala.
“The construction of the Miraflores Temple represents much more than a historic milestone. It is a blessing that will bring the house of the Lord closer to many families, allowing them to participate more frequently in the blessings received in the temple,” he said.
Elder Eddy explained the purpose of temples and the significance of having a second temple in Guatemala City.
“The temple exists so that God’s children can make and keep sacred covenants with Him and receive the blessings that make it possible for them to live with God and with their families forever,” he said. “The construction of this second temple in Guatemala City is a manifestation of God’s love for His children.”

Following the press conference, media representatives toured the temple, walking through its various rooms and learning more about their purpose and significance to Church members.
The Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple is the fourth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala, where more than 297,000 Church members currently reside.
