Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Connecticut recently presented the state’s governor, Dannel P. Malloy, with a photo book of service done by Helping Hands volunteers in the state in 2011.

Helping Hands volunteers in Connecticut performed several acts of service in 2011, including cleanup after Hurricane Irene. The Helping Hands program brings together members of the Church and their neighbors to provide community service. These volunteers in their trademark yellow shirts help people who have been affected by natural disasters and other emergencies. Helping Hands volunteers also partner with government and nonprofit organizations to support and improve their local communities.

Church leaders also discussed the Church’s construction of the Hartford Connecticut Temple.
