Nigeria: Ozalla Health Center Wears a New Look
Volunteers and donations from LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have rejuvenated the Ozalla Primary Health Center for the people of the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. The building and restroom facilities adjacent to the facility were refurbished and painted.
Donations from LDS Charities included hospital beds, medicine cupboards, an examination couch, a maternity delivery bed, a trolley, a stretchers, a centrifuge, a glucometer, a blood bank and an oxygen concentrator.

Pacific: Tongan Schools Receive Much-Needed Furniture and Supplies
The donations of desks, chairs and other supplies to two government schools were greeted enthusiastically and celebrated with traditional songs and dances.
LDS Charities partnered with Furniture for Schools, a New Zealand-based non-profit organization founded by members of the Church, and donated the supplies to Fangatongo Primary School in Neiafu and to Pangaimotu Primary School in Vava’u.

Philippines: LDS Charities Trains Bicol Partners for Wheelchair Initiative
The wheelchair initiative, operated by LDS Charities, goes beyond donating wheelchairs to people in need. A wheelchair serves a greater purpose when people are trained on fitting a recipient to the right wheelchair.
Recently, instruction was held for the Bicol Regional Teaching and Training Hospital (BRTTH) staff to help them assess recipients’ needs. The training course was based on World Health Organization guidelines and focused on assessing individual user needs, selecting and fitting an appropriate wheelchair, and training users and caregivers.

Colombia: Church Wellness Fair Benefits More Than 500 People
Children, teens, mothers and seniors are benefitting from a recent wellness fair in Puerto, Colombia. The fair, coordinated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, provided recipients with free dental kits, medicines, haircuts, refreshments and water. Other organizations also donated to the fair.
Medical personnel were available to assist residents in the health and recreation areas, as were volunteers from the Mormon Helping Hands program, missionaries and the military police.

Pacific: Teaching the Value of Work Using Chickens
A Tongan family has developed a productive business at home raising egg-laying chickens. In September 2017, the family joined in the project of building a chicken coop with wire provided by LDS Charities.
The eggs from the 18 hens are sold to the local market, and the money is used for the children’s schoolbooks, materials and school uniforms.

Korea: Church Leaders Participate in 2018 Global Business Peace Dinner
Awards were given to individuals for their community participation in several areas, including They included peace and public policy participation, partnership and joint efforts, core business, social contribution and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
During the dinner and symposium, Church leader, Elder Robert C. Gay of the Asia North Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a keynote speaker. He said, “We have a vision of what we can do to accomplish the will of God. I hope to have a better day tomorrow with a touch of peace.” Two Latter-day Saints were among those given awards.
