USA: Missionaries Serve Bhutanese and Nepali Refugees
Over a period of four short years, a population of approximately 20,000 Bhutanese-Nepali refugees has settled in Columbus, Ohio.
Missionaries in the Columbus Ohio Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been helping the refugees get settled. Four missionaries have been tasked with the opportunity to learn the Nepalese language to be of greater assistance.

Korea: Mormon Helping Hands Assists Families at the 7th Seoul Fairy Tale Festival
An estimated 200,000 families participated in the 7th Seoul Fairy Tale Festival, jointly organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Gwangjin District Office.
Mormon Helping Hands volunteers attended the event to serve and provided bottles of water, stickers for the children and interpretation and guidance for visitors in eight languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. Latter-day Saint volunteers were also on hand to help locate lost children and parents during the busy and crowded festival.

Papua New Guinea: Students in 10 Schools Received Chairs and Tables
LDS Charities and Pacific Assist, a nonprofit organization in Auckland, New Zealand, combined their efforts to supply 10 Papua, New Guinea, schools with 677 desks and the same number of chairs.
Education Department director, Homoka Boge, said, “We warmly welcome the materials. We have limited funds and we need more. We know you do good work; we have much respect for you. May the good Lord bless you.”

USA: Latter-day Saint Volunteers in Maryland Recognized by the Governor
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Maryland have been given the governor’s citation for service.
Mormons in Baltimore have been busy assisting in food pantries and providing welcome kits for at-risk and orphaned youth entering group living. One congregation makes 500 to 600 sandwiches on the first Sunday of each month for homeless and at-risk individuals.

Pacific: Church and Muslim Relations Strengthened in Auckland, New Zealand
Latter-day Saints in Henderson, New Zealand, recently participated in an Ahmadiyya Muslim Iftar experience at the Baitul Muqeet Mosque in Wiri, Auckland.
This was the first time Church leader Aaron Wi Repa visited a mosque and participated in an iftar. He said, “I have been made to feel very welcome. My understanding and respect for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community has increased. I look forward to continuing our relationship in the future to serve our communities.”

Ghana: Family Advocates Honored by the Church
Community leaders in Accra were honored recently by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the 2018 Family Values Award. The award recognizes people for their efforts to protect family values.
Deputy Minister Gifty Twum Ampofo said, “Because of the family values that we as a society neglect, when we create litter or other social problems, we don’t even care about how we manage them.” She called on all Ghanaians to extend a helping hand to the poor and needy to help raise good future leaders for the country.
