During the Sunday morning session of the October 2025 general conference, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke about the evidence of the works of God and testified of the power and truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the impact it has had on his life.
Referencing the account of Jesus Christ’s healing of a blind man found in John 9, he said, “My first sight-giving, life-giving encounter with real evidence of truth did not come with anointing clay or in the Pool of Siloam. No, the instruments of truth that brought my healing from the Lord came as pages in a book, yes, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ! ...

Elder Jeffery R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares a message of inspiration during the Sunday morning session of general conference at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 5, 2025.2025 by Intellectual Reserve, Inc. All rights reserved.“The impact in my life of the Book of Mormon is no less miraculous than was the application of spit and dirt placed on a blind man’s eyes. It has been, for me, a rod of safety for my soul, a transcendent and penetrating light of revelation, an illumination of the path I must walk when mists of darkness come, as surely they have and surely they will,” he said.
President Dallin H. Oaks, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, conducted the session of the 195th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Conference Center on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 5, 2025. He noted the many expressions of love received following the death of President Russell M. Nelson. “Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers,” he said.
Through the “glorious” atonement, Jesus Christ strengthens us in times of trial, testified Elder Henry B. Eyring of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the concluding speaker of the session.
“He knows how to succor us because He has felt all the challenges that we will ever feel in mortality,” he said.
“The Lord proves us ... to strengthen us. That proving does not come in moments of ease or comfort. It comes in moments when we feel stretched beyond what we thought we could bear. The Lord teaches that we are to continue to grow and never tire in our efforts, that we never give up, that we keep trying.
“When we continue to have faith in Jesus Christ — even when things might feel impossible to us at the moment — we become spiritually stronger,” he said.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke of the importance of “looking to God,” which he said means that “He is not just one of our priorities; it means rather that He is our one highest priority.”
We can find God’s commandments and counsel in the scriptures and words of His servants, he taught. And in a fallen world “where the devil rages and where everyone is imperfect,” “it is only by looking to God that individuals, families and even nations can flourish,” he said.

“As we strive, with faith and diligence, to weave temperance into our actions and words, I testify that we will strengthen and anchor our lives more securely upon the sure foundation of our Redeemer.”
Sister Andrea M. Spannaus, Second Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency, testified that there are prophets on the earth today whom God has called to speak for Him.

Elder James E. Evenson, a General Authority Seventy, taught that service allows individuals in all circumstances to minister to others. “Service has the power to open hearts to the gospel and allows all of us to give our whole soul to Christ. It changes our hearts to become more like Him, and, in the process, we lift others,” he said.
Elder Peter M. Johnson, a General Authority Seventy, taught that “ministering in the Savior’s way involves love without judgment, compassion, kindness, and patience.”
He encouraged listeners to minister to individuals in ways that lead to the temple, the house of the Lord, “even amid unanswered questions and feelings of being unimportant, alone, discouraged and unseen.”
Music was provided by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, directed by Mack Wilberg and accompanied by organists Richard Elliot and Brian Mathias.
Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong and Elder D. Martin Goury, both General Authority Seventies gave the prayers.
