President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will rededicate the San Diego California Temple on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The temple, which closed in 2023 for extensive renovation, will be rededicated at 11 a.m. (with a rebroadcast throughout the temple district at 2 p.m.).

The public was invited to tour the temple from June 18 through July 11.
Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels, where members and friends of the Church meet for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a “house of the Lord,” where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed. In the temple, Church members can seek peace and guidance, learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow men and women.
