President Uchtdorf expressed his gratitude for the new building and thanked God, faithful Saints, and the pioneers who have been involved in the proclamation of the restored gospel and the development of the Church in the Czech Republic.

“We are here today thanks to those who did not give up, even though the only thing they had were Christian yoga camps,” President Uchtdorf told the crowd.

Hopeful Promises of the Future

President Uchtdorf described the dedication as a new beginning for the Church in the Czech Republic. “I believe this building will give you more strength and determination,” he said.

He invited all present to be an example for others and to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Today, we no longer have to hide our message; we can share it openly,” he said.

Elder Martin Pilka, an Area Seventy, and James W. McConkie, Second Counselor in the Europe Central Area Presidency, also testified of miracles that accompanied the preparation and construction of the stake center.

A Space for Service and Friendship

On Saturday, May 30, more than 500 people attended an open house for the stake and community center, which included tours of the facilities, a service project, sports activities on the new playground and outdoor property, workshops and presentations from various Church departments, music and a dance.

President Jared Everton, president of the Czech Republic and Slovakia Mission, said, “When I first came to this building a few weeks ago, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I thought of all the beloved Saints I knew in Prague more than 30 years ago when I was serving here as a young missionary. I couldn’t have imagined this moment then.”
