President Johnson Meets With Maryland’s Governor

Relief Society leader and governor discuss service and family history

General Relief Society President Camille N. Johnson and Elder Michael P. Brady, an Area Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with Maryland’s Governor Wes Moore in Annapolis, Maryland, on Friday, May 15, 2026, to discuss expanding opportunities for service and strengthening communities throughout the state.

Maryland’s governor emphasized the importance of service as a unifying force. He spoke about his office’s efforts to improve access to service opportunities and shared his vision for expanding participation statewide. Governor Moore is familiar with JustServe.org, a website hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ as a gift to the community. The website connects volunteers with local service opportunities. Governor Moore believes the resource is a valuable tool not just for his state, but for others across the country.

As part of the visit, President Johnson and Elder Brady presented Governor Moore with a personalized family history compiled by a FamilySearch specialist. The governor was thrilled to see his family's generational tree and supporting records containing images of documents and photos that connect him to his family roots.
