Primary General President Susan H. Porter and her Second Counselor, Sister Tracy Y. Browning, visited Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico, May 15–17, 2026. While there, these leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ministered to children, participated in a service project, and met with local government leaders and Latter-day Saints.
“It was a great honor for us to meet with the director of religious affairs for the government of Chiapas,” President Porter said. “It was very meaningful to see their sincere efforts to create peace through service and religious freedom.”

We are very pleased with the participation, the help and the coordination.”
President Porter said the Church teaches its members to obey the two great commandments — to love God and love one’s neighbor.
“We hope that children learn that they can look beyond themselves, look at their community and know that they can make a positive difference with their efforts,” she said during a service activity in the city with children, Church members and friends.

Sister Browning said she was impressed with the children’s energy, enthusiasm and willingness to serve. “I asked them, ‘How do you feel? What are you learning?’ And they said they were very happy to be there working together, and they knew what they were doing mattered.”
Sister Browning reminded parents of the power their example and influence has on their children.
“What you do at home to serve your family, what you do at Church or in other areas of your life to do good and show your children what that looks like, will inspire them to do the same. They will follow your example,” Sister Browning said.
President Porter added, “In Primary, they learn about the Savior Jesus Christ, who went about doing good, and then we give them the opportunity to put that into practice.”
