The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a rendering and announced the groundbreaking date for the Iquitos Peru Temple. The location of the Queen Creek Arizona Temple and a rendering of the Charlotte North Carolina Temple were also released.
Iquitos Peru Temple
An exterior rendering and groundbreaking date have been released for the Iquitos Peru Temple. Groundbreaking services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Elder Sandino Roman of the South America Northwest Area Presidency will preside at the event.
As previously announced, the Iquitos Peru Temple will be built on a 1.75-acre site located at Calle San Marcos 117-137, San Juan Bautista, Maynas, Loreto, Peru. Plans call for a temple of approximately 20,000 square feet. This will be the 10th house of the Lord in Peru.

President Russell M. Nelson announced the Iquitos Peru Temple in April 2023.
More than 667,000 members of the Church reside in Peru, meeting in more than 800 congregations. Temples in Arequipa, Lima, Lima Peru Los Olivos and Trujillo are dedicated. Temples in Chiclayo, Chorrillos, Cusco, Huancayo and Piura are under construction or announced.
Queen Creek Arizona Temple
The Queen Creek Arizona Temple will be located at the southeast corner of Ryan Road and Euell Drive, between Meridian Road to the west and Ironwood Road to the east, in Queen Creek, Arizona. This 82,000-square-foot temple will be built on a 15.5-acre site, which will include a meetinghouse and an accompanying ancillary building.

The Queen Creek Arizona Temple was announced in 2024. The Yuma Arizona Temple and the Flagstaff Arizona Temple have also been announced. Six temples are currently in operation in the state, including locations in Gilbert, Mesa, Phoenix, Snowflake, The Gila Valley and Tucson.
Charlotte North Carolina Temple

As previously announced, this temple will be built on a 7.7-acre site located at 5926 Mathews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,700 square feet. This will be the second house of the Lord in the state, joining the Raleigh North Carolina Temple.
The Charlotte North Carolina Temple was announced in 2023.
North Carolina is home to more than 98,000 members of the Church in approximately 190 congregations.
Latter-day Saints consider each temple a house of the Lord and the most sacred place of worship on earth. Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies that, through the power of Jesus Christ, allow families to be together forever.
