President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is deeply connected to the Latter-day Saint missionary guide “Preach My Gospel.”
When he was assigned to serve as chairman of the Missionary Executive Council in 2002, he directed efforts to change how the missionaries taught lessons, encouraging missionaries to testify of Jesus Christ and His Church in their own words.
The first chapter of “Preach My Gospel” teaches that the missionary purpose is to “invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.”
In this Church News video titled “Preach My Gospel,” President Ballard speaks about the missionary manual and its impact.
“I think ‘Preach My Gospel’ has been a tremendous resource and a help to the missionary cause of the Church,” President Ballard said. “That manual came from heaven.”
