October 2009 Edition of The World Report

The latest edition of The World Report, a semiannual report of news events around the world pertaining to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is now available on YouTube. This latest edition includes a story on Elder Anderson's call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the dedication of the Church History Library, temple updates and many other stories.

Elder Neil L. Andersen's Call to the Twelve: Elder Neil L. Andersen is called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. For more information, click here.

Russia/Ukraine Visit (President Uchtdorf): President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, and Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles made a historic visit to Eastern Europe, spending time with civic leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Church History Library: The new Church History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, opened its doors to the public on 22 June 2009 following a two-day open house and a formal dedication. For more information, click here.

Mormon Battalion: Early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints comes to life on the open frontier through a unique film retracing the journey of the Mormon Battalion.

Spanish Bible: On 13 September in congregations across the Americas and Europe, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced to Spanish-speaking members of the Church the availability of the Latter-day Saint edition of the Bible based on the Reina-Valera translation. Day of Service: On 25 April 2009 thousands of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints volunteered for a day of service. For more information, click here.

Cathedral of the Madeleine: President Thomas S. Monson speaks at the centennial celebration of the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nearly 1,000 people gathered as Bishop John C. Wester acknowledged the long-standing friendship that has existed between the Mormon and Catholic faiths in the Mountain West. For more information, click here.

Navy Medical Ship Volunteers: Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worked as nurses, administrators and translators aboard the USNS Comfort - partnering for the first time with the United States Navy, Navy doctors and other relief agencies.
