Plans to construct the temple were announced 23 May 2007, Church leaders broke ground 20 June 2008, and Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Manaus Brazil Temple 10 June 2012. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in the Manaus region.

The 32,032-square-foot temple’s exterior is Branco Paris granite from Brazil.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
