Plans to construct the temple were announced 6 August 1998, Church leaders broke ground 9 April 1999, and Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2008, dedicated the Montreal Quebec Temple 4 June 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Quebec, Ontario and Vermont.

The 10,700-square-foot temple’s exterior is Bethel white granite.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
