The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a new 2022 #LightTheWorld initiative for December focusing on sharing light.

The website — found at LightTheWorld.org or ChurchofJesusChrist.org/comeuntochrist — says to look for ways throughout December to bring joy to someone new each day.

“By following Jesus, the true Light of the World, you can bring a little light to the lives of friends, family members, coworkers, and even strangers,” it says.

The initiative also calls for 25 days of kindness. By texting “LIGHT” to 71234, people will receive daily encouragement and inspiration to show Christlike kindness to one person every day this Christmas.

And, “From December 1 to Christmas Day, pay attention to the ways the people around you have shared their light with you and others. Each day, highlight their small acts of kindness on social media,” says the website, inviting people to use the hashtag #LightTheWorld.

A new video to go with the initiative this year is titled, “The World Needs Your Light.”

“This Christmas, the world needs your light. Your family needs your light. The hungry, the lonely, close friends, and complete strangers all need your light,” the narrator says. “Jesus taught His followers, ‘Ye are the light of the world.’ And it’s time to let your light shine.”

The initiative’s website and video are also available in Spanish, Portuguese and French.

People can sign up for daily email prompts at ChurchofJesusChrist.org/comeuntochrist/light-the-world/daily-prompts

They can also join an official Light The World Facebook group to share their own posts and experiences, see more content and meet new friends from all over the world.

And as part of the 2022 campaign, expanded and mobile Light the World Giving Machines kick off this month in 28 locations around the world.
