ABC Network Invites Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Participate in Disney Singalong

The ABC Network invited the renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir to join a Disney singalong that aired on and Good Morning America’s social media platforms. The choir recorded the familiar tune “Be Our Guest” from “Beauty and the Beast” in response to the special TV network invitation.

The choir recorded the song at the conclusion of its weekly broadcast, Music and the Spoken Word, the world’s longest continuous network broadcast. Mormon Tabernacle Choir director, Mack Wilberg, led the choir during the recording session that took place in the Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

This isn’t the first time the choir was featured in a Disney event. In 2014, Disney Parks around the world united together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the “It’s a Small World” attraction at Disneyland. Disney released a video of people singing the ride’s classic tune from six different continents and more than 25 countries. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir joined other performers, including bagpipers from Scotland and Bollywood movie actors in India, in an effort to unite the world through music. The “It’s a Small World” Disney attraction has close ties with the choir. The ride was featured at the opening of the New York World’s Fair in 1964. At that same fair, the choir performed several numbers and recorded the album, “At the Fair.”

ABC’s invitation comes just a few weeks before the choir’s new CD release in May titled “Mormon Tabernacle Choir & Friends.” The album includes contributions by Angela Lansbury, the voice of the original Mrs. Potts from the animated classic “Beauty and the Beast.”
