All Smiles at Operation Smile Breakfast

The Utah Chapter of Operation Smile recently recognized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the 75th anniversary of its welfare program and gave thanks for the faith’s support. The praise came at the organization’s fund-raising breakfast in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 20 September 2011.

Presiding Bishop of the Church H. David Burton was the keynote speaker at the gathering, in which he explained the many ways the welfare program aids millions of people. The Church’s initiatives include preventing hunger and stabilizing diet, developing clean water sources, providing professional medical care and enhanced eyesight and providing wheelchairs for the disabled.

In addition to providing relief to millions of people worldwide regardless of religion, the Church has been a consistent contributor to the international Operation Smile organization, which helps children develop new confidence in themselves by changing a cleft lip into a bright smile.
