The Church emphasizes self-reliance and helping members feel empowered to meet their temporal, spiritual and emotional needs through resources such as Deseret Industries, Transitional Services, BYU–Pathway, English Connect, Family Services, Employment Services, self-reliance courses and bishops’ storehouses.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes learning is a lifelong pursuit, brings people closer to God, and promotes dignity and self-reliance.
Deseret Industries helps people overcome barriers to employment and provides skills training — in addition to providing items at an affordable price. The Active Job Search program at Employment Services helps thousands of job seekers find new or better jobs.
Self-reliance courses help Church members learn principles and skills to empower them to care for their own needs.
