CBS Baltimore: Mormons Give $50,000 Donation to Maryland Food Bank

More than 360,000 people around Baltimore don't know where their next meal will come from. As part of the state's day of service in early October, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated $50,000 worth of food to help feed the hungry who rely on the Maryland Food Bank.

Nancy Smith of the food bank calls the donation 40,000 pounds of "highly sought after food" that "is like gold to us" because it is packaged in shrink-wrapped crates that are easy to organize.

Underlining the depth of the need in the area, CBS Baltimore notes that even this kind of large donation would be distributed within one week.
