Elder Brent H. Nielson, a member of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made a personal visit to the Canterbury earthquake zone to lend support to ongoing efforts for the people in the region.
Coverage of the visit is posted on the Church's New Zealand country site.
A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the area 4 September. Since then, more than 700 aftershocks have followed.
Leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourage their members to store food and water and have portable emergency kits that can sustain life in the event of a disaster.
