The new LDS Business College extension center was dedicated yesterday by Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The new extension center opened its doors last month to over 1,300 students.
LDS Business College moved to the Triad Center in downtown Salt Lake City earlier this year. Eventually the Salt Lake City campus of Brigham Young University will move to the same building complex. President Hinckley said, “This will become a great educational center. … Altogether nothing could be better than what we will have here.”
The college was founded in 1886 and has had more than 80,000 students graduate over the last 120 years.
President Hinckley remarked that he volunteered to attend the dedication because of his personal attachment to the school. His parents met at the school and soon after married. His father, Bryant Stringham Hinckley, presided over the school, and Ada Bitner taught shorthand.
