Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints opened the 176th Semiannual General Conference with a report on Church progress.
President Hinckley indicated that there are now 6,066 Church-owned satellite receiving sites in 83 countries. This is compared to the 300 in 1982.
The Church’s 123rd temple was recently dedicated in Sacramento, California.
The Salt Lake Tabernacle, the facility on Temple Square used by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for their weekly broadcast, is currently under renovation. The building will reopen in spring of 2007.
“I can only report that the Lord is richly blessing His Church,” said President Hinckley. “Our duty is to do all we can to move it forward.”
