Columbia South Carolina Temple

Plans to construct the temple were announced 11 September 1998, Church leaders broke ground 5 December 1998, and Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2008, dedicated the Columbia South Carolina Temple 16 October 1999. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
The exterior of the 10,700-square-foot temple is Imperial Danby Vermont marble.
Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
