Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Curitiba Brazil Temple 1 June 2008. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in the Brazilian state of Parana and in the state of Santa Catarina.

The exterior of the 27,850-square-foot temple exterior is reinforced concrete, with facade of sienna white granite native to the state of Espirito Santo. Art-glass window panes complete the facade exterior.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
