Public open house begins today

Over 5,000 people came to the Washington D.C. Temple as part of the invited guest tours that took place beginning Monday, April 18, 2022. With Washington, D.C. as the U.S. capital, this included around 50 government ambassadors, more than two dozen U.S. senators and members of the U.S. House of Representatives, and five of the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices to date.

More than 150 journalists participated in the media day that kicked off these events on April 18. Over 100 media articles and stories have appeared in outlets around the globe and in various languages. Faith leaders have also participated, along with opinion leaders, academics, social influencers and other advocacy groups and individuals.

Several Apostles of the Church, including Elder David A. Bednar, Elder Quentin L. Cook, Elder D. Todd Christofferson and Elder Gerrit W. Gong, along with committee members and other regional and local leaders, provided personal tours to many of these guests.

The public open house begins today Thursday, April 28, 2022. Invited guests will continue to participate in the free public tours as their schedules allow. Many guests have shared their experiences on social media. Here are a few examples:
