Plans to construct the temple were announced October 2, 2004, Church leaders broke ground August 5, 2006, and Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Draper Utah Temple March 20, 2009. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Draper, Utah.

The exterior of the 58,300-square-foot temple is temple white granite from China.

Currently, there are 30 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
