Elder and Sister Andersen to Keynote RootsTech Family Discovery Day

The FamilySearch event on Saturday, March 8, includes in-person and virtual messages, music and family history activities for all ages

FamilySearch announced today that Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Kathy, will be the keynote speakers for RootsTech Family Discovery Day on Saturday, March 8.

RootsTech, the premier global family discovery event, will be held March 6–8, 2025. It is hosted annually by FamilySearch, an international genealogy organization and popular website sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Family Discovery Day is a free event at the Salt Palace Convention Center featuring live music and family history activities for all ages.

Elder and Sister Andersen will speak at 1:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) about the power of discovery and the blessings of temple and family history work. Following the Andersens, the Piano Guys will perform on the main stage. The Andersens’ address and the music performance will be streamed live and available later for on-demand viewing on ChurchofJesusChrist.org. 

Attendees at the Salt Palace can enjoy games, art projects and fun activities for the kids. Dozens of free family history classes are available all day on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., including special sessions for youth taught by John and Kim Bytheway, Scott and Angelle Andersen, and a special session with T.C. Christensen.

Other Keynote Speakers

Other keynote speakers at RootsTech include Author Ndaba Mandela (grandson of Nelson Mandela), prominent artist Dana Tanamachi, and Olympic and Paralympic Gold-medalists Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall. They will take the main stage to share their unique and inspiring personal, family and historical experiences.
