Twenty-one thousand gathered at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City today to pay tribute to the late Gordon B. Hinckley, 15th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Long lines and bitter cold weather did not deter dedicated members and friends of the Church from attending the funeral. Many arrived early at Temple Square dressed in their Sunday best and layered in coats, hats and gloves in an attempt to stay warm.
Music from the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir played around the Conference Center while police officers managed the traffic and large crowds.
President Hinckley passed away on Sunday evening, 27 January, at age 97, due to causes incident to age.
