Wyoming is home to more than 65,000 Latter-day Saints in approximately 170 congregations. The new temple will be the state’s second house of the Lord. The other is the Star Valley Wyoming Temple.

Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday worship. All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. Each temple is a place where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through sacred ceremonies, such as marriages, which unite families forever, and proxy baptisms on behalf of deceased ancestors who did not have the opportunity to be baptized while living.
