Millions of RootsTech 2025 participants worldwide were encouraged to make meaningful discoveries in family history during the largest family history gathering in the world that happened March 6 through March 8, 2025, in Salt Lake City and online.

Hosted each year by FamilySearch International and supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, RootsTech pairs live, in-person events at the Salt Palace with online offerings. Together, these messages, classes and emerging technologies are aimed at helping people uncover family stories and strengthen connections across generations.

Family Discovery Day

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who with his wife, Kathy, were featured speakers Saturday, March 8, during Family Discovery Day, a RootsTech offering designed specifically for Latter-day Saints. A surprise guest was President Jeffrey R. Holland, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Youth Event

New this year was a session specifically for 11 and 12-year-old youth to get them excited about family history and temple service. Youth worldwide are encouraged to view the recorded event during weekday activities.
