In a world where social media can often feel dark and misleading, a group of dedicated teens are using their online presence to spread positivity and the light of Jesus Christ.

The platform the.testifying.teens originated from Sophia Bancroft, age 17, who started posting daily scriptures on her personal social media accounts. Her desire to share the gospel via social media influenced her to invite friends to join in her efforts.

Sophia, Maggie Bartlett, Charlotte Chadwick, Clara Moss, Will Larsen, Molly Jepperson, Allie Jo Atkinson and Isaac NeSmith — all from the Lenexa Kansas Stake — created the account that quickly grew into a fun and inspiring platform.

“We know social media can be a very dark place, so we wanted to create a platform to show the light of Christ in hope to spark conversation and interest in the gospel of Jesus Christ,” testified Sophia.

This platform brings together young voices eager to share the light of Christ with others, both online and in their communities. “We often need reminders to be an example of a disciple of Christ for others. And this account reminds me every day to be one,” added Isaac NeSmith.

And these teens have done just that — helping spread the word on how individuals can be disciples of Christ through charitable donations this Christmas season, thanks to the growing access of the Giving Machines.

Sharing the Love of Christ

Their experience sharing the gospel through social media has not only helped others foster a positive connection with the gospel in an engaging and meaningful way but has also impacted their own testimonies.

“This account has helped me love sharing the gospel even more and being able to share the light of Christ has shown me that I want to serve a mission when I grow older, but until then, I will use the resources I have to reach out to those who want to hear about Christ,” explained Allie Jo, age 17.

The youth expressed how rewarding it has been to see how each other shares the love of Christ in their individual ways. They are excited to continue spreading the gospel and sharing the joy they feel being a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“This account has really brought Christ’s light into my life more fully, not by just feeling it but also sharing it. I have been so grateful to be able to read my scriptures and have an outlet to immediately share what I learned! I have also felt so supported in growing my testimony through people viewing the account and my team members lifting me up,” recounted Bartlett, age 18.

Being part of such a mission-driven community has cultivated a desire among the teens not only to spread their faith but also to foster an inclusive environment. They envision the account as a welcoming place for people from all walks of life to explore spiritual topics without fear of judgment.

“I hope that this account can be a safe space for people to share their beliefs and not be afraid to ask questions. It is a way for us to share our love of Christ and our faith, and hopefully we will inspire others to do the same,” shared Molly, age 17.

Symbols of Hope

Just last week, “The Testifying Teens” — in collaboration with the social media team for Giving Machines Kansas City, Missouri — made an impactful social media post. They promoted not only the Giving Machines located in Kansas City, Missouri, but also highlighted their presence and growing influence all around the world.

These unique vending machines are transforming the way people think about charitable giving. In 2017, the first year of the now-annual Christmastime initiative, there was only one Giving Machine. Since then, that number has increased significantly to 107 machines in various locations worldwide, reflecting their widespread impact and success.

The Giving Machine initiative is designed to make contributing to local and global charities enjoyable, convenient and profoundly meaningful for everyone involved. It not only highlights the ease of giving but also underscores the fun and rewarding nature of helping others through these vending machines, which now serve as symbols of hope and generosity around the globe.
