Latter-day Saint Leaders Honor Father Figures in Social Media Posts

In celebration of Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared video messages on their social media accounts about what the holiday means to them.

The holiday, held on the third Sunday in June in many countries, honors fathers and paternal bonds and recognizes their influence on society.

Father’s Day social media posts from several Church leaders are listed below. Other leaders who shared messages on their social media accounts include Elders David A. BednarQuentin L. Cook and Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Sisters Michelle D. Craig and Becky Craven of the Young Women general presidency; and Sisters Amy Wright and Susan H. Porter of the Primary general presidency.

In his message, President Nelson said that, although fathers aren’t perfect, they have a lasting impact on their families. The global faith leader also shared that, while the holiday may be sorrowful for some, everyone has a Heavenly Father.

President Eyring reflected on his father’s trust in him as a young boy.

Acting President, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

President Ballard expressed appreciation for all fathers and talked about how brothers, uncles and grandfathers can be a paternal influence in someone’s life despite their imperfections.

In his social media message, Elder Holland spoke about fathers being crucial to the strength and stability of families.

In her message, President Cordon spoke about her father and how she and her siblings were considered his “great work” on earth.

Primary General President

President Johnson shared a video of her son mowing the lawn with his daughter in a baby carrier and spoke about his positive influence as a father.

Jean B. Bingham

Relief Society General President

In her social media post, President Bingham said that one of the best gifts a father can give his children is the knowledge that he has a firm belief in God.
