Ghana: Delivering Better, Faster Aid to Rural Communities

On March 10, 2025, the Ghana National Ambulance Service and Ghana Health Services in Tamale received 20 modified motor tricycle ambulances thanks to a collaboration between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Catholic Relief Services.

The donation, made through Holistic Opportunities for Positive Engagement in Maternal and Child Health, is expected to enhance access to timely, quality health care services for approximately 250,000 residents in rural areas.

A donation from the Church to Esperanza Bolivia, a nonprofit organization, seeks to improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene services and create a violence-free environment in Villamontes schools in southern Bolivia.

“I haven’t heard a single ‘no’ regarding this project,” said Palmira Villarroel Chacon, director of Esperanza Bolivia. “This initiative has been blessed from the beginning because it’s the first project of its kind. I’m very grateful to all of you.”

Philippines: Youth Unite Amid Religious Differences

In early February, more than 200 youth and young single adults met in Antipolo, Philippines, for the 11th annual Interfaith Youth Peace Camp organized by the Church of Jesus Christ.

“I believe that as children of our Father in Heaven, we are all brothers and sisters,” said President Bernabe Magsino of the Quezon City South Stake. “We have one Father in Heaven who loves us very much, and as His children, we must love one another.”

“Many people say, ‘religion divides people,’ but this camp has proven that it doesn’t,” said Zarabelle Torres from the Charismatic Episcopal Church. “We truly felt unity because we all serve one God.”

Tonga: Keeping Hospital Patients Safe

Oxygen tanks at the Vaiola Hospital in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, are now being safely housed in a storage facility built in collaboration with the Church and the Tonga Ministry of Health.

“We are here to help our neighbors,” said Taulia Tafiti, humanitarian manager for the Church in the Pacific area. “We are not here to answer all problems … but we are here to help relieve suffering and improve lives as an extension of the Savior.”

Guatemala: Disabled Former Police Officers Receive Wheelchairs

On February 7, 2025, dozens of former National Civil police officers in Escuintla, Guatemala, who are disabled, were blessed with wheelchairs donated by the Church.

“I recognize what it’s like to be in a wheelchair. I was disabled for 15 months, and having a wheelchair to get around was a blessing,” said Francisco Ramirez, deputy commissioner of the Guatemalan National Civil Police. “We are grateful for the donation of 75 wheelchairs, which will bless the lives of the same number of people.”
