Plans to construct the temple were announced 15 March 1999, Church leaders broke ground 20 May 1999, and President James E. Faust, then second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Medford Oregon Temple 16 April 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in southern Oregon and northern California.

The 10,700-square-foot temple’s exterior is granite.

Currently, there are more than 20 temples in various stages of construction or have been announced throughout the world.
