All rights reserved.Sixteen missionaries from the Central area of the East Lima Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints volunteered to help with an Operation Smile campaign at Hospital Dos de Mayo, on March 10, 2025, in Lima, Peru.
The missionaries were tasked with moving materials, supplies and essential medical equipment in preparation for reconstructive surgeries that will benefit 37 children with cleft lips or palates scheduled for March 12 to March 15.
The young people worked enthusiastically under the direction of Carlos Pajares, who was in charge of Operation Smile logistics, and with the support of logistics volunteer Jovani Yataco.
At the end of the activity, Pajares expressed his gratitude to the missionaries for their willingness and efforts, and highlighted the valuable support of Lima East Mission President Santana and stake communication directors Jorge Luis Oré of Lima, Mariela Valencia from Lima East, and Javier Gamboa of Surco stakes.
Operation Smile provides free reconstructive surgeries for children born with cleft lips or cleft palates, helping them regain their smile and improve their quality of life. This effort is made possible by the joint work of doctors, volunteers and relief organizations.
