Mormon Message: Like a Broken Vessel

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a Mormon Messages video Monday based on an October 2013 general conference talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The talk, “Like a Broken Vessel,” addressed depression, something Elder Holland acknowledged he has personally dealt with in his life.

“I felt broken,” said one person in the video who has struggled with depression. “It never lets up,” said another.

One in four people in the world will be affected by mental illness at some point in their life, according to the World Health Organization.

Hang on and hope, said Elder Holland. “Never lose faith in your Father in Heaven, who loves you more than you can comprehend. If we come unto Him [Jesus Christ],” explained Elder Holland in the video, “everything that was broken gets fixed. That’s the great promise of the gospel.”

Mormon Messages videos contain short inspirational messages regarding principles and values that are important to the world.
