The U.S. Navy has posted a second video that features the work of Latter-day Saint Charities volunteers aboard USNS Mercy during Pacific Partnership 2012, a four-month long U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian and civic assistance project that ended on 11 August (we blogged about the first video earlier this week).
The video above features Megan Zitting, a pediatric nurse who was aboard the hospital ship during its stop in Cambodia in early August. Zitting describes what it’s like to meet the children on the ship before and after their surgeries.
“It’s so fun to get to know the families and all the kids,” Zitting says. “It’s made me feel really grateful to be able to work with the kids. It helps remind me how pure they are and how happy and simple things can be. They’re so much fun to be around. They lift me up just by being around them every day.”
Pacific Partnership 2012 also made stops in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam; 96 LDS Charities volunteers were aboard at some point during the four-month journey.
