    Mormonism Online: In Your Own Words | October 4, 2016

    Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide gather twice yearly for what is called “general conference,” an opportunity to hear messages from top Church leaders. Latter-day Saints travel from all over the world to attend general conferences, which originate in the 21,000-seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    Since the vast majority of the Church’s 15 million members are unable to attend general conference in person, the meetings are available in 94 languages total via television, radio, satellite and internet.

    During the conference, Church leaders speak on a variety of spiritual topics, such as following Jesus Christ, serving others, keeping the commandments, praying and the blessings of being able to worship.

    After the conference is over, the talks are published on LDS.org and in the Church’s Ensign and Liahona magazines so members can read and study them.
