Uganda: Sewing Ties Together Latter-day Saint Young Women in Africa and the U.S.
Young women in Roosevelt, Utah, with their hands shaped into a heart
Young women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Uganda and Utah have become long distance friends. The motivation behind this friendship was the desire of the young women in Utah to help the young women in Uganda learn how to sew.
The Utah girls planned to sell cinnamon rolls in their community. In three days, they sold 40 dozen rolls, and the money was sent to Uganda to purchase used sewing machines and supplies.

Ghana: Youth Discover Their Own History
Young Latter-day Saints in Africa have been seeking out information about their grandparents. The program, titled “Know Your Grandparents,” encourages African youth to ask their parents about their grandparents.
The program is designed for youth in the Church to learn more about their family’s history by using the My Family booklet, a publication of the Church used to record family names and stories.

Australia: FamilySearch Helps to Find Lost Gravesite
A family in Tasmania, Australia, was planning on raising money at an upcoming family reunion to purchase a marker for the grave of a great-grandfather. The family had contacted the funeral home to determine the exact location of the gravesite.
As family member Allison Ralph was taking a free genealogical class from a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was shown the Cornelia Bay Cemetery records located on FamilySearch. After researching those records, she discovered where her great-grandfather was buried.

Philippines: LDS Charities Provides Shelter Kits
LDS Charities, in partnership with a locally elected official, has arranged for shelter kits for an area on the island that suffered severe damage from Typhoon Yolanda last November. Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez is a legislator from the district of Ormoc in the province of Leyte in the Philippines, an area hard hit by the typhoon.
More than 100 Mormon Helping Hands volunteers sorted 2,000 shelter kits and materials for distribution to people in need this summer.
