United Kingdom: Refugees on the Minds of Mormon Helping Hands
More than 5,400 meals were prepared last month by Mormon Helping Hands volunteers for Care4Calais, a charity that assists refugees.
The 453 boxes of food were loaded into a seven-ton truck along with hundreds of hats, scarves and gloves for delivery to Calais, where the refugees live. More than 45 volunteers helped unload the commodities.

Ukraine: Church Providing $1.2 Million of Humanitarian Aid to Eastern Ukraine
With the help of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Church is providing $1.2 million worth of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of eastern Ukraine.
This project will help people living in social institutions outside the control of the Ukrainian government. Assistance will also be given to people with disabilities, single mothers and large families.

Pacific-Tonga: Peanut Farming Is Teaching Families Self-Reliance
First-time Tongan peanut farmers are rejoicing after they harvested a crop of good-sized peanuts. The project is supported by the Church’s Welfare Services and teaches people self-reliance skills.
Feeling success from their efforts, many of the families are doubling the acres they will plant for their next peanut crop.

South Africa: Mormons Respond to Radio Station Drought-Relief Call
A radio station in Jacaranda put out a call to help drought-stricken areas in South Africa with an effort called “Project Water-Drop.” Responding to the call were missionaries from the Johannesburg Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Off they went to serve, loading pallets of bottled water to be trucked into areas of Africa in need.

Malaysia: Day Care Center Beautified by Latter-day Saint Volunteers
Nearly 30 Latter-day Saints helped with yard work for a nonprofit day care and children’s educational center.
Among the jobs performed in the project were pruning bushes, weeding flower beds, raking leaves for burning, collecting trash and clearing ditches at the Tasputra Perkim center.

Ghana: Church Leaders Visit Ghana President
The president of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, invited local Church leaders into the Flagstaff House to get better acquainted. The building serves as the president’s residence and office.
Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr. of the Seventy and president of the Church’s Africa West Area said the meeting with Ghana’s president centered on what the Church teaches its members in his country.

Uganda: First Lady Given Family Values Award
Janet K. Museveni, first lady of Uganda, was given the Family Values Award recently by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for helping to build strong families.
The award is given to community leaders who have made outstanding contributions to building and supporting the family.

Hong Kong: Missionaries Help Make Blankets to Keep Elderly Warm
While working on the blankets-for-the-elderly service project, missionaries talked about why they left their homes and families, their schooling and other interests to travel many miles away from home to give of their time without getting a paycheck.
