Canada: Record-Setting Food Drive
Mormons in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, set a record for collecting food for the annual Winnipeg Harvest, a community-based food distribution and training center.
Corporate contributions and volunteers helped collect more than 100,000 pounds of food.
Local Latter-day Saint Wayne Drozdowski organized the event and said he considers volunteering an “exchange” rather than a “service.” “We must consider that most people find themselves in need at some point in their lives. So today I may be the person with the ability to help, but tomorrow I may be the recipient of someone else's volunteer effort.”
