Muuchi Xiimbal Foundation and Church of Jesus Christ Combating Malnutrition in Mexico

The Church is donating food supplements and nutrition education activities for 250 families

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is supporting a program to combat child malnutrition in San Gregorio Cuautzingo, Chalco, State of Mexico, through a donation to the Muuchi Xiimbal A.C. Foundation.

The Church will contribute 900 basic food kits and 1,500 spirulina food supplements. In addition to providing food, the project includes food education activities for parents and family leaders. They will receive nutritional education about healthy eating habits and the proper use of available resources.

Child malnutrition has irreversible consequences on children’s brain development, growth, resistance to diseases and school achievement. For this reason, the project will focus on the 250 neediest families in San Gregorio Cuautzingo, which have an average of six members per household. This will lead to the addition of 1,500 beneficiaries, which include newborns and children up to 10 years old, adolescent women, widows, and young single mothers who are in a situation of chronic malnutrition.

The Muuchi Xiimbal Foundation works in various areas to meet the needs of the population of San Gregorio Cuatzingo, including child malnutrition. The foundation created a system to provide them with the necessary tools to improve their quality of life in the social, economic and nutritional needs for families in the area. Its objective is that the solution to economic and social vulnerability arises from the community itself, involving the population in its own development.
